James Threadwell says seeing Aerosmith is an opportunity not to be missed as the She Must Burn guitarist hailed the veterans – who are on their farewell tour – as an inspiration.

The English black metallers will boot the door to The Dogtooth Stage off the hinges as the first band to plug in and let loose on Download day one – Friday, June 9.

And speaking to The New Rock Times, Threadwell says he can’t wait.

“We've always loved Download! It's truly iconic and brings people together in the best way,” he says. “Some of us never had the chance to attend in the past so very much looking forward to checking it out. “

He continued: “I'm sure we'll be sticking around! Couldn't miss an opportunity to see Aerosmith. They've always been a tremendous inspiration.”

Recent months have seen the band bring their bone-juddering metal riffs to audiences across the Pond with their first ever shows Stateside which have been a thrill-a-minute reveals James.

“It was one hell of a run,” he smiles.

“We've had quite a following in the States so being able to get out there and finally connect with those fans was an incredible experience. We certainly made some good friends out there and we're looking forward to when we return!
“I hHave to say the Americans go hard! Some of the New York crowds were pretty extreme. Destructiveness in the pits would often develop into a type of black hole. We'd occasionally witness the chaos spill out and the merch tables devoured.

“Certainly can't knock our fellow Brits though, they always bring it and we're excited to be back! “

The London-based band dropped their debut album earlier this year and the general consensus is ‘Grimoire’ is a deathcore classic.
“We've been over the moon with the reception,” says James.

“It's our first ever full length release so to see it enter at number 6 in the US Billboard hard chart was awesome. We put our heart and soul into this album and it gave us a chance to really evolve what we wanted to create.”

James added: “There's a lot we can't talk about just yet, but you can bet you'll be seeing a lot more of us. We've got some exciting stuff up our sleeve, especially for this next year but you'll have to stay tuned to find out.”
