Pop punk with infectious beats and soaring choruses will be the staple diet for all who line up in front of the Zippo Encore Stage at the Download Festival this summer for a hotly anticipated set from Surrey rockers You Me At Six.
Five albums and dozens of radio friendly, and mainstream embraced, hits deep, You Me At Six are a band most rock fans will know about and it's impossible not to sing along to their infectious sugar-sweet choruses.
You Me At Six are band who aim to bring a festival set to every show they play, be that indoors or outdoors, and at Download the boys will be looking to bring their A-game to Donington Park.
Frontman Josh Franceschi has promised fans are in for a treat when they check out the band in the flesh.
He said: “The people who come to our shows really love music and they see it as an opportunity to completely leave all of the shit of the outside world, whether it be work, family, friends, whatever’s going on in their life, they leave those issues at the door.
“You go and see some bands and fights can kick off or people can be nasty to each other, but it’s always an interesting view to have onstage where you see a group of strangers in harmony enjoying themselves.”
Franceschi also says the band are reborn after a difficult personal period of self-reflection from the band's main man.
He continued: “I fell out of love with music in a way that I didn’t think I’d ever fall out with it, I didn’t pick up the guitar for maybe two years between 2013 and 2015. I’d sort of had enough and there was a bit of soul searching to be done, so I did that and figured out the missing pieces.
“Not worrying so much about the success of our peers helped me focus on what it was I wanted to say and the tones I wanted to create, and that was a very exciting period of the band’s career, realising that as far as we were concerned no-one was doing what we are with this record right now.”
