Axl Rose is being sued by a former band mate over allegations of unpaid wages.
Former Guns N’ Rose multi-instrumentalist Chris Pittman has made a claim for some $163,000 which he says was promised to him by Rose for his work on the road with the band in 2011.
Pittman has lodged his claim after reports emerged suggesting the Guns N’ Roses reunion tour has already raked in more than $100m since Rose brought classic-era members Slash and Duff McKagan back into the fold.
Earlier this year Pittman took aim at the band with a series of tweets which labelled the reunion line-up – of which he was left out of the band – as ‘a cash grab’ and novelty ‘nostalgia trip.’
Pittman did offer an apology before going on to insist he had taken the decision to quit the band who were happy to simply’repeat that 30-year-old music over and over.’
Meanwhile, just days after former Guns N’ Roses rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin claimed a lack of equality in the distribution of the money was the reason for his non-involvement in the reunion shows – more information has emerged.
MSL, an infamous source of credible Guns N’ Roses information who regular breaks news and scoops, wrote on the GNR Truth forum that Izzy had rehearsed with the band but wasn’t interested in cameo payments.
“Izzy was in rehearsals at one point and was negotiating to appear at a few of the April gigs. Equal pay was never discussed. A five-figure fee per cameo is what was being negotiated.
“They were far apart and Izzy bailed. He doesn’t need their chump change and they don’t need to throw away money on a guy that isn’t gonna sell many tix.”
